
Preliminary talks began January 9th between representatives of the Town of Converse, Converse Economic Development, and Covey Crossing residential development concept planners: Barry Bunker, Ryan Smith, and Jerry Smith. The proposed development is targeted for southeast Converse which lies in Grant County. This particular area of Converse has had a rich history of its own, and was known under several names at various times as East Xenia, East Converse, and Belgiumtown.
Covey Crossing as planned would have a total of 43 lots. Lots will be medium size with some variation in design and total area. Homes would be medium priced.
Condominium lots are proposed along the west end. Curbing, sidewalks, and attractive light posts will be required with the average lot priced around $25,000.

Town and EDC representatives indicated their encouragement and support for this project; citing the presence of strategic planning for the future with respect to water delivery, waste treatment, and new water tower soon to be built. This development will fill a need that has existed for some time as prospective homeowners for this building market have gone elsewhere. “To have a plan in place, ready to go, with the land already available; we couldn’t be more pleased.,” reflected the view of EDC representatives; Fred McCracken, Joe Whitesel, Steve Reiff, and town board representative Joe Lenon.
