Tentative plans have been discussed and a schedule has been released for Converse Homecoming Days, Sept. 12-14, following an organizational meeting July 16, 2008 called by organizer Barbara Hovermale Kidd. This once popular event has been missing from the Converse scene for a number of years and organizers are hoping its main purpose will be to celebrate the Converse Community through a festival of competitions, parade, music, and food. Organizers are already taking entries for the parade and are welcoming vendors with a free set-up this year. The group welcomes additional volunteers and could use some start up money. They have a plan ready to go and were even looking ahead to next year in the organizational meeting.
